Last night Australians were treated to a great lunar eclipse, as reported on many news sites including this story on
ABC News. We had a brilliant view here in Canberra and saw the whole thing as it happened from about 7PM onwards.
I tried to take a picture myself but unfortunately I have a very limited zoom on the digital camera so we didn't get anything decent. A mate of mine, David Petley has much better equipment and is a bit more of a photographic enthusiast than me. He took the photograph below from his place on the far north coast hinterland of NSW. From where we stood in Canberra that's just what it looked like.
